A movie review which is long overdue...
This is an amazing movie. Tim Robbins gives a great performance nonetheless, but it is Morgan Freeman's character that adds such emotion to the movie. Morgan Freeman's line "Get busy living, or get busy dying..." is one heck of a powerful message. The director, Frank Darabont managed to blend empathy with brutal physical and emotional violence to the best possible effects.
Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins): Receives a double life sentence for the crime of murdering of his wife and her lover.
Red (played by Morgan Freeman): As Red's long stay in prison comes to an end he sees the light at the end of the tunnel. Andy has left it for him to see the way to freedom, and he follows it.

Prisoners don't normally exude compassion for their fellow unfortunates, but Red noticed right away that Andy Dufresne was somehow different from the rest of all other prisoners. An extraordinary friendship was forged between the two...
"Shawshank" may not be the best movie of all time, but it was perfect for me. The movie managed to captivate the way hope can set anyone free from their obstacles. This movie stays with me long after the credits have rolled.
